European Schoolnet’s Interactive Whiteboard Working Group (IWB WG) was established in order that Ministries of Education can share experience related to the use of IWB technologies in schools and explore areas of common concern. It is one of five EUN working groups set up to help develop an annual work programme that is in line with priorities set by its supporting Ministries.
Currently 15 Ministries of Education are members of the Working Group: Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, and the UK.
To date the IWB Working Group has:
- Identified current good practice related to the use of IWBs in several countries, leading to the production of nine case studies on the use of IWBs as well as some alternative technologies (in the Irish case study).
- Analysed and provided feedback to Becta on its common file format for IWB content interoperability and supported the adoption of this specification at European level.
- Had one-to-one meetings with leading IWB vendors to explore issues related to IWB marketing, support and CPD as well as opportunities for joint working.
